PATIENTS
Preoperative Instructions
At Clinique MFML, we want you to begin your treatments with as much information as possible about the different steps in the process. This will enable you to be fully aware of the care to be provided and fully confident in our team. The following are instructions for some of our treatments.
Preparation for wisdom teeth extraction
We invite you to come and meet with us prior to the procedure day. This meeting will allow us to get acquainted and respond to your questions and your expectations in anticipation of your wisdom teeth surgery.
On the day of the consultation, we will proceed with an appropriate clinical examination and ensure that we have recent and high-quality radiographs. On occasion, 3D imaging will be carried out to better evaluate your condition.
In light of this meeting, it will be possible for us to determine if the extraction of your wisdom teeth is in fact required or if it is better to wait and monitor the condition.
Your surgeon will discuss specific elements of your condition with you, as well as possible complications related to third molar extractions.
Preoperative process for dental implants
The placement of one or more dental implants requires precise and careful planning. A first meeting will allow us to get to know you better and clearly define your requirements so that we can respond to your questions and your expectations concerning the implantology.
On the day of the consultation, we will proceed with an appropriate clinical examination and ensure that we have up-to-date and high-quality dental X-rays.
In certain cases, 3D imaging may be necessary to better evaluate bone quantity and quality as well as the exact position of some key anatomical structures such as the inferior alveolar nerve and the maxillary sinus.
Your surgeon will discuss specific elements of your condition with you, as well as possible complications related to the dental implants.
You will also meet our treatment coordinator, who will make sure to follow up with your dentist or prosthodontist.
Preoperative process for orthognathic surgery
Once the orthodontic preparation phase is complete, your orthodontist will advise you to contact us to choose a surgery date and plan the procedure. Your surgeon will meet with you approximately 1 month before your procedure to take the final clinical measures, models of your teeth and imagery (X-rays, scan) required. The surgical procedure and associated risks will be explained to you in detail.
Important to note:
- This meeting lasts one hour.
- If X-rays or models of your teeth have been given to you by your orthodontist, please bring them to your meeting.
- The hospital where your surgery will take place will contact you for a meeting before your surgery to evaluate your medical condition.
- We remind you that it is necessary to have your wisdom teeth removed at least 6 months, and ideally one year, before your surgery.
