It is normal to experience sensitivity, slight bleeding, or discomfort in the hours following the procedure. These symptoms usually subside quickly.<\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

Bleeding<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n
\n

Keep a gauze pad in your mouth and bite down on it, maintaining light pressure for 20 to 30 minutes. Change the gauze pad as needed.<\/p>\n

Slight oozing is normal during the first few hours.<\/p>\n

On the day of surgery, avoid rinsing your mouth vigorously, spitting, or drinking through a straw.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Pain and swelling<\/h3>\n <\/div>\n
\n

Take the prescribed or recommended medication as directed.<\/p>\n

Apply ice to the cheek (20 to 30 minutes at a time) during the first 24 hours. Applying ice beyond 24 hours is not recommended.<\/p>\n

Begin applying moist heat on day 3.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

\n

Stick to soft and cold (or lukewarm) foods during the first 24 to 48 hours.<\/p>\n

Avoid hard, very hot, or spicy foods.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

\n

Continue brushing your teeth while avoiding the surgical area for the first 24 hours.<\/p>\n

If a mouthwash is prescribed, use it according to the instructions provided to you.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

\n

Rest on the day of surgery.<\/p>\n
